Egypt soldiers charge Tahrir Square after night of violence

CAIRO - Egyptian soldiers with batons charged into Tahrir Square on Saturday after fatal clashes nearby, prompting many demonstrators who have been camped there since last month to flee into side streets.

Shots were also fired in the air as the troops in riot gear pushed into the square following the eruption of a fire in the area around buildings associated with Egypt's upper house of parliament, a Reuters witness said. Troops were seen grabbing some people and beating them.

NBC News reported that protesters' tents had been set on fire. The military was confiscating cameras and attacking photographers and camera crews who had been reporting from the square, NBC said.

Eight people have been killed as clashes between troops and protesters in central Cairo spilled over into a second day, Egyptian state television reported.

It also said that 303 people had been wounded in the unrest in the capital, whose center has turned into a smoke-filled battleground in some of the most violent clashes since a popular uprising ousted President Hosni Mubarak last February.

Egypt's Dar al-Iftah, the body that issues Islamic fatwas (edicts), said one of its senior officials, Emad Effat, was among the dead, state news agency MENA said. He was shot in the chest after joining the protesters outside the Cabinet.

Clashes around government offices and parliament raged on after nightfall on Friday, with protesters throwing Molotov cocktails and stones at soldiers who used batons and what witnesses said appeared to be electric cattle prods.

The violence has sharpened tensions between the ruling army and its opponents, and clouded a parliamentary vote set to bring Islamists, long repressed by Mubarak, to the verge of power.

It first began late Thursday after soldiers stormed an anti-military protest camp outside the Cabinet building near Tahrir Square, expelling demonstrators demanding an end to military rule and an immediate transfer of power to a civilian authority. Witnesses said troops snatched a protester, taking him into the parliament building and beating him. The troops later moved in, burning protesters' tents.

Frustration with military
The military took over after longtime President Hosni Mubarak was ousted in a popular revolt in February. Rights groups and activists charge that the military is carrying on the practices of the old regime, including arresting and beating dissidents.

Many Egyptians have grown increasingly wary of the military and frustrated with its handling of the country's transition period, and many activists accuse it of trying to hang on to power.

Mustafa Ali, a protester who was wounded by pellet shot in clashes last month, on Saturday accused the ruling generals of instigating the violence to "find a justification to remain in power and divide up people into factions."

In a statement read on state TV Friday night, the ruling military said its forces did not intend to break up the protest and said officers showed self-restraint, denying the used any gunfire. It said the clashes began when a military officer was attacked while on duty and protesters tried to break into the parliament compound.

The young activists who led the protests against Mubarak have not translated that success into results at the polls, where Islamist parties won a clear majority of seats in the first round of voting last month over the more liberal parties that emerged from the uprising. Results from this week's second round are expected in the coming days, with the rest of the country set to vote next month.

Images of troops protecting polling centers and soldiers carrying the elderly to the polls have served to boost the military's image as guardians of the country. The military remains the ultimate authority on all matters of state in absence of a president.

The second round of voting took place Wednesday and Thursday in nine of the country's 27 provinces. It covered vast rural areas where the religious stand of Islamist parties has strong support.

If a person is not taught how to be responsible at a young age, then when they are faced with responsibility as an adult, they will act like children.

This is being proven time and time again by all protesters all over the world.

Amazing, just amazing; the people of America knew this crap would happen at our expense. It must be a "good" thing for some people, the powers in America, as it was allowed to happen. Secretary of State Clinton flew in several times and to my knowledge dropped off 2.5 Billion US Dollars to help them in their fight for..........."freedom" or whatever the line of crap was they handed us. They double speak in Billions and Trillions that most of us just shrug it off: a billion here and a billion there here a billion there a billion everywhere a billion...........

Either they are stupid or they are making deals that we do not know a thing about.

Mr Cool, you are SOOO right. It must be good for someone? WHO? This was inspired by our Gov and Soros' and other NGOs. Why bump off leaders whom are insuring the peace in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia? Any idiot familiar with the ME KNEW this would happen!

SO Soros and the Agency MUST want to destabilize the ME and have war and have Israel execute the "Sampson Option" with her dying breath. The ME is destroyed, 6 million dead Jews, 66 million dead Muslims. Then the New World Order rebuilds Solomon's Temple and establishes Jerusalem as the center of World Gov, finance and religion, probably Bahai. Only scenario I can think off that makes sense to me. Any other ideas?

The problem in Egypt is that the young, Face-book generation wanted the strongman repressive Mubarak out. The Face-book generation did not realize that the Islamist, Muslim Brotherhood was waiting patiently to take over. The Military does not want to give the Islamists control, but the Islamists did win the reasonably fair election.

Compare this to Iraq, where we spent our treasure and gave our blood to create a nascent Democracy, only to vacate because we were forced to vacate, and now Iran threatens to take over. All our sacrifices be be for nothing in Iraq.

What a mess!!!

In the next few years we will all witness what raw naked power does to those who use rhetoric and extremism as weaponry. Iran will start the Shia super country. They will yell and scream and curse. Eventually they will do something stupid and the full power of Western military force will come crashing down on top of them.

Remember Muslims... America effectively destroyed Saddam's entire military in 48 hours. Its being a police force that we arent very good at...

Since WHEN has it been America's foreign policy to defend Muammar Gaddafi?!?!?!!

President Reagan sent a cruise missile in through Gaddafi's bedroom window, and then sent him the video recorded by the missile's camera just to dispel any doubt about exactly whose bed got blown up as the epicenter of the explosion.

Bellicose bombasts with opposite sounding names call for a strategy that would cement the Muslim Bortherhood to the more radical extremists and lead to further persecution of the Egyptian Christians and those who want freedom, democracy, and protection of civil rights for all. Bad, Bad, Bad.

No doubt the wise people at our State Department are doing everything possible to maintain a wedge between the Muslim Brotherhod and the radical groups, and welcome the Brotherhood over to the side of democracy and justice for all, INCLUDING religious minorities.

If so, GOOD FOR THEM!

Iran will start the Shia super country.

That's supreme poohbah Khamenei's plan, but if he tries to pull any more crap like the last sham election, the Iranian people are going to rise up and throw him out on his ear.

The only question is whether someone like Rafsanjani will take over in the supreme muckity-muck role or whether the people will rewrite the Constitution to eliminate the more dictatorial positions. If you could excise the pseudo-religious dictatorial postions, the Iranian constitution would be a pretty decent document.

From a historical perspective, a better question would be "Who is the idiot who said the Shah must remain" long after that was no longer a viable solution?

I'll take what is evolving in Egypt over what happened in Iran any day.

It's a dangerous and precarius situation, which is why simplistic diatribes that boil down to 'we should have sided against the Egyptian people in order to prolong Mubarak's corrupt dictatorship' simply won't do. That kind of strategy throws the baby out with the bath water and leads to a severe radicalization of the 'opposition'.

It is the Military vs the Muslim Brotherhood! The Muslim Brotherhood clearly gained in the elections by violating the official rules, but then, they do not have to follow the established Rules, as long as they can win and take control of the Country, which is their ultimate Goal. After that, they will set up the Country so that they will remain in control for as long as possible - or until such time that the people will throw them out, and don't hold your breath for that to happen! The Military see this as a threat - duh! - and are taking steps to try and keep it from happening. That's the situation. Now the question is: What are our - U.S.A.'s - interests? Stability is a thing that may be retained with the Military, but at a great price in the form of what We, the U.S.A., stand for. That's a dilemma, I'd say! The other question: Can we trust the Muslim Brotherhood? And to that, I have no answer at this moment. Good luck, Hillary Clinton, in figuring this one out!

What are our - U.S.A.'s - interests?

Good question!

I'll start with a Bill of Rights that protects all Egyptians, including religious minroities like the Christians.

Add to that a foroegn policy that supports a peaceful and just solution in the Holy Land with the rights of all groups respected, and a two-, or better yet three-, state solution (Palestine and Israel with full status, and Gaza with a lesser quasi-status until they grow up and learn to eect leaders that are not hell-bent on murdering their neighbors).

The Suez Canal open to all.

Friendly relations with the US and US businesses.

After that, it's really all up to the Egprians, isn't it?

Anyone else?

Jimmy Neutron-4486790 - you are joking right!. Obama what the hell does he have to do with egypt .

Perhaps if you bothered to look at the Documented events before blindly attempting to defend the actions, you mignt have something valid to say (your own information instead of being a cheap sock puppet).

"What is done is done and cannot be undone".

2009 President Obama's Improved Relations with Iran Policy. That gave Carte Blanche to Iran, basically Iran can do anything they want with no US reactions. To the extent that shortly after President Obama nominated General McChrystal (Democrat) and US Congress confirmed him to Command Afghanistan, he stated that Iran was supplying weapons, ammunition, funds, etc. to the Taliban, Al Quada, Pakistanis Taliban, Army of Islam, etc. based on weapons, ammunition, etc captured at Afghanistan. This was a Violation of President Obama's 2009 Improved Relations with Iran Policy so General McChrystal got his first Letter of Reprimand from President Obama.

In Asymmetric Warfare you are trained to conduct Insurgency and Counter Insurgency Warfare. For Insurgency Warfare, this means a group goes into a Nation, and then starts to disrupt that Nation's Government. The Strategic Goal is the eventual collapse of that Nation's Government. As the situation progresses the Insurgents start to get others to fight for their Cause, an example would be to start Demonstrations and Protests to gain International Support for that Cause. If this does not Cause that Nation's Government to side with the Demonstrators and Protesters Cause, then the next step occurs; getting that Nation's Government to take extreme measures against the Demonstrators and Protesters, like killing the Demonstrators and Protesters, this must be captured by the News Media so that there is an International outcry and increased support of the Demonstrators and Protesters Cause (which is really your Cause). Part of the current High Tech Electronic Warfare, is the use of Social Media (as long as that Nation's Government does not shut these down), think of organizing a Flash Mob of millions of anyone that will show up. So eventually if that Nation's Government does not quit or change to accommodate your Cause, then the next step occurs, creating the means to get other Nations Politically involved by tripping the triggers that are in those Nations National Interests (you have to make it very appealing to them). When this does not create the desired outcome then the other triggers are tripped to get those other Nations to use a Show of Force (Military Actions). If the Show of Force fails, then the Demonstrations and Protests are internally escalated to a Civil War with the covert support of the other Nations. The Insurgents then start to use covert Military Actions to destabilize that Nation's Government, like sabotage, convincing that Nation's Military to desert to the Demonstrators and Protesters Cause, covert Raids to take over that Nation's Military Bases especially munitions storage locations before the start of the Civil War, other actions that seem to be out of the capabilities of the Demonstrators and Protesters that can be blamed on that Nation's Government. Etc. (I purposely left off a lot). During all of these activities, it is an absolute requirement for the Insurgents to conduct Intelligence, Counter Intelligence, Force Protection, and measures to prevent any Counter Insurgency Warfare. When that Nation's Government finally collapses, you already have someone or group (that owes you) waiting to take over. If things do not go your way, you hijack the "Revolution".

Anyway how this relates to Egypt (keep reading). Right next door near the Syrian Border, the Iranians had their Military Trainers, and Military Advisers, training the Islamic Jihadists at the really large Islamic Jihadist Training Camp at the Autonomous Kurdistanis Region. These Iranian Military Advisers and Military Trainers were training the Islamic Jihadists in the art of Insurgency Warfare. This Islamic Jihadist Training Camp at the Autonomous Kurdistanis Region became the main Islamic Jihadist Training Camp, as at Yemen the US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces deemphased the Islamic Jihadist Training Camps at Yemen with precision Targeting. Iran was also supplying weapons, ammunition, funds, etc. to this Main Islamic Jihadist Training Camp at the Autonomous Kurdistanis Region.

In 2010, US Ally Turkey attacked the Islamic Jihadists Training Camps at Southern Turkey, Northern Iraq (Autonomous Kurdistanis Region), Western Iran, Border of Syria, believing that only the Kurdistanis PKK, HPG, KGK were there. This was not the case, there were hundreds of thousands Islamic Jihadists from various Islamic Jihadist Organizations from all over the World. During the US Ally Turkey Military Attacks (Turkish Special Forces Raids, Turkish Military Assaults, Airstrikes, etc.) the overwhelming firepower of the Turkish Military caused the hundreds of thousands of Islamic Jihadists to flee to: Al Quada Syria to Syria. Libyan Islamic Fighting Group to Libya. Muslim Brotherhood to Egypt. Al Quada Yemen to Yemen. Members of Army of Islam Gaza back to Gaza as part of the "Peace Flotilla". Hezbollah and the Hamas Foreign Fighters also part of the "Peace Flotilla" along with many of the Islamic Jihadist Organizations of Palestine. Al Quada Afghanistan back to Afghanistan traveling with the Afghanistanis Taliban, Pakistanis Taliban, Army of Islam Pakistan, etc. along the southern "Old Silk Road" (northern Iran, northern Afghanistan) some were intercepted by the Spanish NATO Military at Northwestern Afghanistan.

Why Fundamentalist Islamic Iran was so interested in Egypt (negotiations with the Muslim Brotherhood and stationing Iranian Missile Destroyers at the entrance to the Suez Canal before the Egyptian Revolution, during the Egyptian Revolution they were sailing the Suez Canal), as access to the Suez Canal and the Egyptian Mediterranean Ports (also closer striking distance to their sworn Enemy, US Ally Israel). Imagine if you had to go from Yemen to off the coast of Israel by ship without the Suez Canal.

Of course the obvious (why I stated how Insurgency Warfare is conducted) the Islamic Jihadists were all trained to do exactly what occurred, cause a Civil War to overthrow the US Allies Governments. That is your "Arab Spring". Ousting of US Ally President of Yemen. Ousting of US Ally President of Egypt. Ousting of US Ally Gaddaffi (didn't any of you ever wonder why Gaddaffi's Prisons held those Prisoners (Islamic Jihadists captured by the US). Al Sheebah attempting to oust the Government of Somalia. Pressure on the US Ally Government of Pakistan, etc. (yes, there are many more, as the Secret Wars of President Obama with US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces as "Boots on the Ground".).

Oh, yes, forgot. US Ally Turkey is still attacking the Islamic Jihadist Training Camps (that is how big this is). One of my counterparts, that we trained with in Asymmetric Mountain Warfare at Turkey before being deployed here (Afghanistan) years ago to conduct US Military Asymmetric Mountain Warfare, is directly involved with the Turkish Military Special Forces Raids, Military Assaults, etc.. My criticism of him is no matter how much surprise you want, you always conduct Special Reconnaissance with extensive Operational Security before conducting any type of Military Operation, so as not to be a participant in a modern day Little Big Horn (Imagine going in with a Company sized element of numerous SF Teams thinking your are going after a few Kurdistanis PKK, HPG, KGK; then being surrounded by thousands of armed Islamic Jihadists wondering what the f**k you are doing in Northern Iraq wearing Turkish SF Military uniforms. Of course the Islamic Jihadists of the Kurdistanis PKK, HPG, KGK, at southern Turkey told Islamic Jihadists at the Training Camps that you were coming, so they let you in and then slammed the escape routes shut behind you.).

Anyway if most of you did not hear about this, it does piss me off as that only confirms what I stated before about the US News Media being monitored and censored. US Ally Turkey (even if they are an Islamic Nation) attacking Northern Iraq, Border of Syria, Northwestern Iran was a big deal on Arabic Al Jazeera (english version did not say squat), Fars News, etc..

Just wondering? If Gaddafi and Mubarek were "good" for Egypt and Libya would you want that type of government here? 44% of all Egyptians live on less than two dollars a day. The minimum wage in Egypt is $6.50 A MONTH! It has been that since 1984. Sound good and stable to you? 1.5 million Egyptians have a physical or mental disability only 2% of them receive any services from the government. Sound good to you? The literacy rate in Egypt is 71 percent as of 2005 which includes 59 percent of females and 83 percent of males. Sound good to you? It is the educated youth leading the Tahir protests. Maybe the Islamic extremists will hijack the revolution. Maybe not. Time will tell. No one saw these revolts coming two years ago so how do you know where they are headed? The aspects of Global-colonialism, which differ from neo-colonialism and for which the US, Britain and France are the primaries practioners is:

Setting tribes against tribes and groups against groups with the goal of establishing short-term rulers and an emphasis on elections. This creates more leverage since these new rulers need the endorsement of the West.

Global-colonialism is noisy and demonstrative. It always involves the media and should the elected group or leader turn out to be members of Al-Quaeda, then the U-turns commence.

Global-colonialists are willing to use massive military force, missile strikes and direct military intervention, using said military power to prevent the former leaders from crushing rebellions, said rebellions which are often created by the global colonialist, and justified under the grounds of 'humanitarian aid' and carried out under the banner of the UN or NATO, thus absolving the western aggressors of appearances of overt aggression.

Global colonialism resembles the old neo-con colonialism in several areas, the ultimate goal being the control of the natural resources of the 'freed' country (Libyan oil) or strategic geographic areas (Suez canal) or to create a justification for going after another country whom the western powers deem recalcitrant (Iran and Israel)

It's pretty revolting, that so many on here are supporters of dictatorship, like Mubarak or the military. That's what 100 years + of corporate influence has done to formerly independent and freedom loving american society.

And as for the naive posters who think it was Obama saying Mubarak must go that caused the revolt in Egypt: I wish it were true that he was really against the dictator Mubarak but he probably did the much the same thing that a Republican would have done.

He backed Mubarak as long as as he practically could, then said you have to go when it became clear it was impossible for him to stay so he could hand power to the military which was just a corrupt, brutal and undemocratic as Mubarak.

Egypt and it's military has been an ally of the U.S. and Israel in that region of the world for the last 30 years so I'm sure he knew about the attack on the protestors that the military was planning and probably gave his O.K.

No, let's blame Bush and give Obama a pass. Who was it gave that rousing speech about democracy and how the egyptains needed to toss off the yoke of oppression? Remember that little Obama speech made in Cairo? Seems they took him to heart. Then you have Obama meeting with members of the Muslim Brotherhood at the WH and making a really swell WH reception for the Muslim Business leaders, setting aside money so same could open businesses here and how he states that there is nothing sweeter than the call to prayers of the Muslim faithful?

Obama makes very nice to the Muslims, he wants to extend the olive branch and in the spirit of peace and love and political correctness he calls the terrorist murders at Ft. Hood 'workplace violence.' Nothing exists that could gladden the hearts of the families of the victims better, nothing says 'workplace violence' better than a terrorist yelling "Allu Akhbar" while murdering 13 unarmed soldiers and injuring another 32. Yes, Obama is all over the 'democratic uprisings' especially when it destabilizes a region sufficiently to create yet another opportunity to go to war for oil.

Has there ever been a peaceful transition from a government controlled by the military industrial complex to the citizens?...Has this ever happened at all anywhere in the world...yes, the Soviet Union...not perfection...but a large improvement...there will always be changes and disruptions depending on the number of extremists involved!

There are many hypocrits who talk of democratic governments who in fact only want to dictate to others...then there are those extremists who say democracies are only dictatorship by the majority...they prefer dictatorship by the few which includes those who will enforce their rules on others...and of course power, control brings wealth...they love enemies whether real or imagined and potential threats are always magnified to enforce the passage of legislation giving them dictatorial powers to control the population under the guise of national security...the facts of these laws are classified to keep them from the unsuspecting public who trust their leaders to be fair and just and follow the Constitution that would protect them from totalitarianism...

    Hey Jack

I don't know what your definition is of "peaceful transition" is, but whatever it is, I would wager the surviving family of the Romanovs would call BS on it. And the fact that tens of millions were murdered by the Bolsheviks, Trosky, Lenin, and Stalin defy ANY quantification of "peaceful". The clue trains are loading at the Kremlin, Tianamen Square and Havana. Oh wait--my bad. They've already left the station.

The indesputatble historic truth is that the only military autocrat in human existence that ever voluntarily and peacefully ceded power was George Washington. Put that in your Marxist pipe and smoke it. That is, if there is any room left next the the crack chunks in your "Occupy Lunacy" Meerschaum.

God bless America and the Internet. These allow any ignorant boob loose with a a keyboard to extol his inanity to the masses. Jack, go back and re-read your Karl Baby and comrade Saul Olinsky--they refered to your ilk as "useful idiots". I can't find an argument against them in todays world.

Jack-1941324 - Has there ever been a peaceful transition from a government controlled by the military industrial complex to the citizens?...

Ha, ha, ha, good f**king joke.

The US Military Defense Industrial Complex as created by President FDR to get the US out of the Great Depression, 1939, after his New Deal To the American People FAILED (US Government spending money did not have to create jobs). Employs almost a hundred million overpaid expensive US Civilians. This is why the US Military must pay $300 for Hammers and USAF Toilet Seats since the US Military Defense Industrial Complex pays "A Fair And Living Wage".

By US Law (US Code) "US Military Must Buy Only US Products, Goods and Service" unlike your Walmart arse spending your Public Assistance on Chinese stuff.

And plastic bobble head (head, automatically moving yes, yes, yes) commonsense.... proving that common sense is not so common.

This is why I want the Automatic 10% Budget Cuts to occur. So that when a million of the overpaid expensive US Civilians of the US Military Defense Industrial Complex become Unemployed and the US goes into a Great Depression, people like you will finally WAKE THE F**K UP.

So why did the President of the United States call for the resignation of Mubarak? Because Mubarak ruled over chaos? No can't be it because our allied Egypt was an open corridor to the ME and backer of peace with Israel. Because the the Egyptian Economy was in disarray and the masses were malnourished and starving? No that isn't it because Egyptians enjoyed a reasonable standard of living among those in the ME and on the African Continent. Is it because of religious unrest? Not really because since Mubarak has been in office Muslims and Christians have lived in relative peace together along with support for Jews in the region.

So exactly why did our American President decide to turn his back on an American allied administration? Why does this President choose Chaos and violence over stability and common sense in the name of America?

Enough is enough.. It is time to start thinking about our own people first.. Handing out taxpayers money like a drunken sailor is no longer acceptable.. Imagine what we could have done for our infrastructure with 10 or 15 billion dollars and how many jobs that would have made.. Sure we need to have some influence around the world but get real.. Time for a petition drive or two to get our elected officials to do what we want and need.. Aren't you sick of them taking money from our elderly and sick.. Then giving it to untrustworthy allies like Egypt and and the jihadistan back stabbers..

Only the incredibly naive believe that Mubarak was ousted merely on the strength of President Obama's wise diclaration that "Mubarak must go."

Believe it or not, the Egyptian people have a stake in the matter of who rules them, and they will not be denied.

Forcing Mubarak on them against their will would have led to a successful Iranian-type revolution, which is exactly the OPPOSITE of what we want.

The Egyptian protest movement was a movement of the people, caused by a similar uprising in Tunisia. President Obama had absolutely nothing to do with the civilian population of Egypt protesting Mubarak. All President Obama did was agree with a PEACEFUL PROTEST of a group of people demanding a more democratic nation. Oh, but wait, I forgot. Peaceful protest is no longer looked upon as a good thing in this country. Just ask those damn Occupy kids.

Why are there so many blind people trying to lead blind people. and refusing to allow someone who can see to show them where they have been and where they are headed. common sense the people were motivated from within by undesirable factions the same factions that are hijacking their revolution! why? because its the only way for them to steal power, they could not fight the government of Egypt so they used (unsuspectingly) the masses, and by creating discent they motivate the crowds to conform to their wishes, by maintaining unrest and confusion they will take over that is the way this element works. this is a bad thing for not only Egypt but the world, and I am ashamed at Obama for his roll in this and his stance, this is not about freedom for Egypt they are going to lose what they had. look beyond the title revolution and have a look at whats around the corner Islamic rule is far from freedom. they are about to jump out of the fry pan and into the fire, and the rest of the house will catch fire, that includes your room. you notice in one way or another discontent is world wide, the new world order is another element that has yet to have its ugly head exposed in this tug of war. its another story but they are related.

shil - Make a deal with Russia: Let us have Saudi Arabia for an oil reserve; Let Russia have Iran for the same.

You seem not to know that Saudi Arabia and Kuwait are running out of Oil. For the longest time they have been Oil Laundrying Iraqis Oil. The loss of the Iraqis Oil caused Saudi Arabia to start deep sand Oil exploration of their deserts. The trigger for Iraq to invade Kuwait was Kuwait diagonal drilling ("Slant Drilling") into the Iraqis Oil Fields (an Act of War).

In 2010, the Chinese and Russian Federation got the contracts to the Iraqis Northern and Southern Oil Fields thanks to President Obama's 2009 Improved Relations with Iran Policy. The Chinese and Russian Federation being current Allies of Iran. The Kurdistanis (Indo Europeans, Shiites, Kurdish form of Farsi) control the Northern Iraqis Oil Fields, being the Armed Allies of Iran since the Iran Iraq Wars. The Shiites (Persians, Shiites, Farsi) control the Southern Iraqis Oil Fields, were those Illegal Aliens (cheap labor, employed by the Iraqis (Arabs, Sunnis, Arabic)) that fled Iran generations ago.

shil - Then we close our borders (use our illegal immigrants to build the wall), and to hell with the rest of the world. I know it's a very simplistic concept; but just think..........................!!!:-)

        Not going to happen:

        1. President Obama's Policy, April 2009 (stated to Mexican President), and August 2009 (stated to Canadian Prime Minister), "US Military will not be used to secure US Borders".

        2. President Obama interviewed by the Associated Press August 10, 2009, President Obama's intent to legalize the over 23 Million Illegal Aliens at the US:

And immigration remained a sore spot. While Obama has said he'd like to start crafting an overhaul that legalizes millions of Mexican immigrants, there's little chance of Congress acting this year, since even top administration priorities like health care and climate policy are moving slowly amid heated partisan debate.

        3. Proof of number 2 above. President Obama's 2011 Policy, that only "Criminal" Illegal Aliens will be deported, as a Backdoor legalization of Illegal Aliens. Of course President Obama is negating the Fact that most Illegal Aliens ARE "Criminals", since they do not fill out Employer Paperwork and Work for Cash Only, as the Employer Paperwork is used by ICE for Raids. By not filling out the Employer Paperwork the Illegal Aliens are committing Felony Criminal Tax Evasion (no State and Federal Income Tax Withholding).

The Reelection Propaganda being President Obama apprehending and deporting more Illegal Aliens than President Bush. This is like bailing out the RMS Titanic with a single metal bucket with a hole in the bottom. Or saying President Bush did nothing about the Illegal Aliens, as it was US Congress that chickened out in passing President Bush's 2006 Illegal Alien Act into US Law, "Illegal Immigration Crisis Response Act of 2006" when the over 23 Million Illegal Aliens Demonstrated Nationwide against passage of President Bush's "Illegal Immigration Crisis Response Act of 2006" into US Law (most of what is going on today pertaining to Illegal Aliens at the US would be non issues today with President Bush's "Illegal Immigration Crisis Response Act of 2006" becoming US Law.).

Your random quotes of Obama, while deftly organized, are still random snippets and of little use in proving your point of view to an actually intelligent human being. I especially loved the third party quote from some random pundit being presented as actual fact or evidence of any legitimate point of view. It's b-s but with much larger sex appeal. Kudos.

As far as the August 10, 2009, Associated Press Report pertaining to the legalization of over 23 million Illegal Aliens by President Obama, that was documented by many at Guadalajara, Mexico during President Obama's Meetings.

The problem with America being World Cop is that ordinary Americans are losing out on affordable health care, education and housing because America has too much DEBT. Being World Cop was fine up until 2000. America was half the World economy after WWII. Now America is a smaller fraction of the World economy. Given the wealthy in America are fanatical about not paying a dime in extra tax who is going to pick up the tab? When people say that only those who served in Iraq and Afghanistan are making sacrifices I strongly disagree. The wars cost $3 trillion thus far. So when is the debt from these 2 unfunded wars an "entitlement" that should be paid for out of the hides of the poor and middle class?

Ron Paul is the only Republican who tell s it the way it is and even though I vote Democratic I have to give him respect. Other Republicans don't care about starting another war or costs of war since the wealthy don't have any sacrifice to make. This is not WWII where the wealthy did their share of sacrifice for the greater good of America.

As far as I'm concerned Israel should be given enough weapons and support to insure no one wins in the Middle East in case of a war. This was the Soviet Union's doctrine and it's a good one. Why play any more games?

Iraq: US Laws With US Congressional Appropriations.

Just read these US Laws (PROOF):

US LAW, H.R.4655 "Iraqis Liberation Act of 1998" with US Congressional Appropriations, as demanded by President Clinton during his State of the Union Address to a joint Session of US Congress, 1998. Justification WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION, Section 2 "Findings" of US Law H.R.4655 (scroll down to Section 2 "Findings"):

          http://209.157.64.200/focus/f-news/1057063/posts

After all the lesser means of US Law H.R.4655 "Iraqis Liberation Act of 1998" (money still being appropriated by US Congress, 1998 to 2011, the US Law does NOT go away until the US Law is Accomplished). US Congress uses the Final Option, the US Military, by DECLARING WAR WITH IRAQ, with US Law, 2002 Iraqi War Resolution with US Congressional Appropriations. The only valid excuse for a US President to NOT enforce a US Law, is if there is no money (US Congressional Appropriations).

US Declaration of War With Iraq, 2002 Iraqi War Resolution:

          http://uspolitics.about.com/od/wariniraq/a/jt_resolution.htm

THE ONLY UNFUNDED, ILLEGAL, WAR CRIMINAL War was President Obama's Libya, as NO US Law with US Congressional Appropriations to cover his arse, since he violated the US Law that Limits his Presidential War Powers, US Law, 1973 War Powers Resolution; with SOS Clinton appologizing for President Obama to US Congress two weeks after the First US Military Actions for violating US Law. Without a Declaration of War or an International Law (UN Resolution) stating Overthrow of a Soverign Nation's Established Government, this becomes a War Crime according to the International Court of Justice at the Hague (the Court that tries War Criminals).

As far as "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share", how about doing some Historical Research into what happened before. I Want President Obama to do this (Repeat the same mistakes and expect a different result):

Who do you think were the "Rich" that refused to pay the British Stamp Act Taxes, aka "Tea Taxes" prior to the War of Independence. Those "Rich" could afford not to have to do day to day daily subsistance existance, can you say the "Founding Fathers". The "Rich" Founding Fathers refusing to fund the rest of the British Empire and especially the British Military at the Colonies (America) that were oppressing them.

Hitler's "Tax the Rich Jews", "The Rich Jews Own Everything", "Germans must take back Germany from the Rich Jews" (start of confiscations), "Tax the Rich Jews", etc.. The "Rich" Jews converting their Wealth into diamonds, gold, etc. anything they could carry while fleeing Germany.

Great Britain's "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share". The "Rich", "Rich" British and Foreign Business Investors flee England, including abandoning the British Icon Businesses. The Idealistic Academics no Real World experience attempt to manage the abandoned British Businesses and Bankrupt them; then sell them to Foreign Nations, creating more British Unemployment ("On the Dole"). The British Middle Class and Poor end up paying for all the British Social Programs, leading to "cannot afford" implementation of Austerity Measures. example: British Icon Business, Jaguar, sold to Tata Motors of India.

Candidate (Senator) Obama's "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share" chasing the Richest Person in the World out of the US. The first victim was CompUSA (Bankruptcy Closure Liquidation), then Sears Holdings (Bankruptcy Reorganization), K Mart (Bankruptcy Reorganization), Circuit City (Bankruptcy Closure Liquidation), Aloha Airlines (Bankruptcy Closure Liquidation), etc. (very long list of US Investments by Richest Person In the World). The other Rich copied his successes. His leaving the US was based on already knowing that Candidate Obama would become President based on the Elitists of the Electoral College. The Richest Person in the World could then lose $10 Billion at that time or later lose $100 Billion under President Obama's "Tax the Rich", "Rich Pay Their Fair Share".

It was also explained to you, why the US Businesses are "Hoarding", "Sitting" on money and refusing to hire. It is that the smart Businesses are creating "Rainy Day" Bailout Funds, and they are NOT hiring because of all the uncertainty created by President Obama, as unknown what Anti Business Policies or Legistation he will implement.

It is my belief since most of you do not want to heed the warning of Kurt Vonnegut's 1961 Book, Harrison Burgeron, about the "Great Recession", "Equality Riots/Demonstrations", "Equality Laws", that the US Businesses, "Rich", "Rich Movers and Shakers" MUST do a "Who Is John Galt" as stated in Ayn Rand's 1957 Book, Atlas Shrugged.

Then all of your arseholes (mouths) will pucker (shut) up, as you struggle daily while eating your rationed Obama chow (dog food of undetermined sources) during the next worse than Global Great Depression (made possible ever since the US Laws that made Illegal the Causes of previous Depressions were removed 1999 and 2000, as the Cause of the current $60 Trillion to $100 Trillion "Global Economic Crisis" and President Obama's not reinstating these US Laws, so the Next "Crisis" of $54.6 Trillion USDs will permanently sink the US into a Depression worse than the 1929-1939 Great Depression.).

Does no one remember Senator Mccain during the Libya Operation stating we should have boots on the ground and then he went to Libya to show his support? If you do not remember this please research it. I do not believe in Remocrats or Depublicans but do not just point the finger at Obama when Mccains decision would have been much worse. THE PEOPLE should be the only party in this country...But they like you divided

countingbodieslikesheep - Does no one remember Senator Mccain during the Libya Operation stating we should have boots on the ground and then he went to Libya to show his support?

            How's that atomic weggie feel.

Since Libya and Yemen (one of President Obama's Secret Wars, that Senator Lieberman blabbed about) are over (except for President Obama's offered Nation Building of Libya).

At the start of Libya, the USN Cruise Missiles were hitting everywhere since they are inaccurate. We (US Military Asymmetric Warfare Forces) here (Afghanistan) were placed on Standby for Redeployment to Libya to provide security to SAD and Targeting and Target Damage Assessment. Fortunately, for us, other Teams were sent. Before you even attempt to say that the USN Cruise Missiles are accurate, we were at Yemen before President Obama turned his back on the US Ally President of Yemen, resulting in the loss of US Ally Yemen to Al Quada Yemen, and now US Ally Saudi Arabia surrounded by their Enemies, as President Obama enabled the loss of Iraq to Iran (King of Saudi Arabia, "President Obama gave Iraq as a gift to Iran on a Golden Platter). President Obama's 2009 Improved Relations with Iran, gave Iran Carte Blanche to enable Iran to support the overthrow of US Allies, Muslim Brotherhood's negotiations with Iran prior to the Egyptian Revolution to overthrow US Ally President of Egypt, Overthrow of US Ally President of Yemen, etc. as the "Arab Spring".

Still, Mr. Saleh told General Petraeus that "mistakes were made" in the killing of civilians. He agreed to the American commander's proposal that to improve accuracy, future strikes would be carried out by American aircraft rather than by cruise missiles fired from distant ships. - The New York Times Article "Yemen helps U.S. fight Al Qaeda, on its own terms"

Accurate Cruise Missile Attacks and Aircraft Bombing requires US Military Forces "On The Ground" (US Military Trained as USAF STTs, Foward Combat Air Traffic Controllers).

Even though you tried really hard on that it still makes no sense. The fact that if Mccain was president right now we would have troops in Libya. It was not just Obama stating we need to attack libya. It was damn near every war mongering politician, I'm pretty sure any American would rather us have used "inaccurate" cruise missiles than send in troops. No one in America cares about Libyan civilians over American ones. If we had Mccain as president our losses would have been much higher than a few cruise missiles and a single fighter jet. Like I said before, instead of trying to keep the people divided with your finger pointing look at the real facts that Obama and every president are just pawns. Obama cant take a poop without the approval of the true leaders of this country

To bad so sad that it is beyond your limited experience to comprehend the discussions of adults.

Face the fact there were/are US Military "Boots on the Ground".

Since you fail to understand what happens when the inaccurate cruise missiles kill innocent civilians and the resulting international outcry for no more. The same thing occurred during Operation Desert Fox when the urban poor areas of Baghdad were hit, killing many of the poor of Islam. This is when the US was labelled as the "Great Satan". At this time also there were no "Boots on the Ground", except for us doing Target Damage Assessments but not allowed to do Targeting, as President Clinton as Commander In Chief already selected pre determined targets.

And President Obama's Violation of US Law that was created specifically to limit Presidential War Powers, is all on him, not anyone else.

I wonder if he or she is a socialist? Hmmmm.. we know that socialists and communists and muslim extremists have been in an alliance in the Middle East, Europe and here in this country, and the media has been dominated by socialists for years, so..... You think the military wants Islamist extremists to take over Egypt?!?!?!?! There has been a process established for a transfer of power, and the extremists are not content with that process. Extremists, socialists and communists never respect any established order. While change is great and human rights are wonderful, communists and Islamist extremists don't care about them beyond rhetoric to placate the masses, and the social democrats are just a bunch of naive fools.

Fake we are just voicing our concerns with the actions of Obama and his failed presidency. We know you will be thrilled when we can do away with freedoms like speech and voting but until then this is America.

When this Arab spring began it was clearly a very bad idea for Obama to call for an end to another countries president.

John, Good observation. i was catching that in the article too.

Fake, Your not making any sence bud. you posted earlier "I prefer freedom over being dictated by fascist."

well, where's your acceptance of others freedoms? Ok we get it, you hate anything right wing, or anyone who dosn't agree with you, and they should just get out or shut up. Meanwhile the Left wing can do no wrong, and Only Fox news has an agenda.

Fake, your Acting like what your calling the other side. Real informed people look at every angle, read deep into the story to find the truth. If you just want a bunch of yesmen on here bobbing their heads to the left wing drum, then your living in a deep little left wing hole that could easily crumble in on you one day. you need to break away from the drum and get informed on some real truth. you better look at your party with more scrutiny and stop believing everything they say.

I'm not saying either side is right or wrong. at this poing Both are HIGHLY flawed, I'm hear to find facts and i do like to read others opinions on a story to see what they think. not just bash people that don't agree with my opinion. you'll never get anywhere with that attitude. if you have a well thought out dissagreement with someone then debate it. otherwise you look like an idiot. debating is healthy and you might even learn something, or prove something.

              From the article:

The young activists who led the protests against Mubarak have not translated that success into results at the polls, where Islamist parties won a clear majority of seats in the first round of voting last month

Our easily duped media keep reporting that the demonstrations leading to Mubarak's demise were all led by liberal-minded reformers who could hardly wait to install Jeffersonian Democracy in Egypt. It was never so. Islamists were in on the revolt from the very start to the very end, and now they are close to seizing power completely after they win the election(s) in which they are leadng by a tsunami of close to 70% of the vote so far. Yet our faithfully naive media insist that this was all a project of liberal democrats. Sheer Nonsense, and unfortunately the present administration shares the same delusion(s) and will pump billions more down the rat hole, thinking that they are supporting a great awakening in Egypt.

Zionism is Israel, the creation of a nation, where all Jews could live with one common language and under one government. Zionism was the idea and the creation of this state - which is Israel. Doesn't anyone read anymore? Haven't you ever read the book by Theodor Herzl, "The Jewish State?" The Palistinians are an inconvenience to this state which they must either force relocation of or exterminate in order for them to create a true Jewish controlled state.

                Almost laughing.

Amin Al Husseini, co founder of the Muslim Brotherhood, signed the Alliance Treaty with Hitler 1933 on behalf of the "Islamic World" for as long as a descendant breaths, their primary Mutual Goal the extermination of the Jews. When they found out that the Jews were coming to the "Middle East" they implemented the Pan Arabic Plan, by moving as many Arabs into Palestine and the area that was desert that would eventually be changed by the Jews from deserts to orchards, it was previously Jordan that moved out by force the original Palestinians, the Orthodox Christians.

Later on Amin Al Husseini founded the Arab League of Nations, demanding the elimination of Israel. And after losing all that land, Golan Heights, Gaza, Sinai, West Bank, Palestine, etc. after attacking Israel being sore losers demanding all the land they lost in combat to Israel. As hind sight the US should have butted out, and not demand that Israel give land back for Peace (that did not work anyway). Amin Al Husseini ties to the founding of the PLO, Hamas, etc. to violently take back Palestine.

Amin Al Husseini influence included at most Islamic Nations the mandatory school curriculum of Hitler's Mein Kampf taught as a success story, and the blame the Jews for everything, "Protocols of the Wise Elders of Zion"; so that future generations would continue the hatred of the Jews.

Prior to the Egyptian Revolution, the Muslim Brotherhood negotiated with Iran. Iran would support the Egyptian Revolution and the Muslim Brotherhood, in exchange for Strategic Access to the Suez Canal, Egyptian Mediterranean Ports (easier access to strike at the "Crusaders" (Europeans)), and closer striking distance to their sworn Enemy, US Ally Israel.

So in other words, the US is backing Islamic extremists not US allies because we want their high grade crude oil. The US trades allies for oil? Where will this ultimately get the US as a country? Or will these moves simply profit Big Oil Companies?

The Egyptian citizens have only accomplished one thing -- getting rid of Mubarak. Otherwise, they are still wrapped up in their dislike (hate) of anything resembling authority. Until they can come up with better ideas than protesting and throwing rocks, they will continue to be defeated. Nobody wants a government of hot-headed rock throwers.

IT IS NOT THE US PRESIDENT'S JOB TO DECIDE WHICH US LAWS TO ENFORCE:

The only liar was the same that said, "I did not have sex with that woman" (his sperm on the front of her blue dress). Gave a whole new meaning to dealing with the Jewish Lobby (Lewinsky):

President Clinton demanding H.R.4655 become US Law, his 1998 State of the Union Address:

Together we must also confront the new hazards of chemical and biological weapons, and the outlaw states, terrorists and organized criminals seeking to acquire them. Saddam Hussein has spent the better part of this decade, and much of his nation's wealth, not on providing for the Iraqi people, but on developing nuclear, chemical and biological weapons and the missiles to deliver them. The United Nations weapons inspectors have done a truly remarkable job, finding and destroying more of Iraq's arsenal than was destroyed during the entire gulf war. Now, Saddam Hussein wants to stop them from completing their mission. I know I speak for everyone in this chamber, Republicans and Democrats, when I say to Saddam Hussein, "You cannot defy the will of the world", and when I say to him, "You have used weapons of mass destruction before; we are determined to deny you the capacity to use them again.

It was believed by President Clinton that Overthrowing President Hussein would "Liberate the Iraqis People". This is when we (US Military Asymmetric Warfare Teams) were sent into Iraq to buy hundreds of thousands of Shiites as assassins and insurgents to Overthrow President Hussein. After this failed, as they were turning each other in for rewards, and being apprehended, tried and executed as Traitors, with President Clinton stating, "Dictator Massacring His Own People".

President Clinton's gutting of US Intelligence leading to the 9/11 2001 Attacks (US Congressional 9/11 2001 Committee findings). His cut to the bone Reduction In Forces (RIF) of the US Military that created the niches for the expensive US Contractors to fill jobs previously done by the below minimum wage US Military personnel "RIFed" by Clinton (as Commander In Chief). Closure of 14 US Military Installations that created near Great Depression Era economies at the surrounding US Towns and Cities (permanent loss of US Civilian Jobs).

We can talk about the Unemployment created by President Obama also. example: The permanent loss of 95,000 US Civilian Jobs due to his April 2009 US Military Defense Budget Cuts of the USAF and USN (not included in the 95,000). Upcoming Reduction In Forces of 27,000 US Military Personnel, and the xxx,xxx US Civilians no longer needed to support the 27,000 US Military Personnel, so x27,xxx soon to join the ranks of the Unemployed plus the 95,000. (There is even more, like when the Automatic Budget Cuts of 10% of the US Military Defense Industrial Complex occurs putting one million US Civilians on Unemployment.).

Assumed this would happen. Don't they understand that everyone is hurting?

This is what change looks like. It isn't always pretty but some people in this world still have the guts to do it. Good thing it happened in America a couple hundred years ago because judging from most of the posts I read on all the major news channel web sites most Americans today wouldn't fight the english.
