Teasing over haircut ends with 2 slain

A customer who killed his barber after being teased about his haircut was shot dead by the victim's brother, according to reports in the Philippines.

The Cebu Daily News said Benjie Lozada was killed Tuesday inside a police station where he was being held. He was found with a gunshot wound to the head.

Senior police inspector Aron Palomo told the paper that Nonito Agustino, the slain barber's brother, used a homemade shotgun in the attack. The paper said his older brother Charlie Agustino had been hacked to death last week.

Palomo added that police had been preparing to file the murder complaint against Lozada when the shooting occurred. Agustino was arrested at the scene, Palomo said.

The Associated Press reported that Lozada was taking medication for mental illness.

Mayor Alex Centina, of central Calinog town, said Nonito Agustino had pretended to bring food to Lozada before the shooting, which happened in front of Lozada's mother.

The AP said relatives had teased Lozada about his haircut.

The town's police chief was fired for security lapses. Police said they were busy with preparations for the town's fiesta.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

I was going to say exactly the same thing. Great minds . . . .

The difference between a good haircut and a bad haircut is about two weeks. He was halfway there when he went over the edge. Wow.

Let's get the NRA over there. That will put an end to this mess of home made guns.

She'll be fine. She's leaving the US, so she won't have to worry about getting shot. No worries.

Bizarre - I mean, you have a hacking death (machete?) over a haircut and then a revenge killing with a home-made shotgun. If it wasn't so brutal and sad, it would be humorous.

He shot the guy in front of his mother. Tomorrow's headline will be about the mother killing the shooter. This will never end until all the relatives/friends/barbers are dead.

@ Harley, since when did the liberals want more laws? What the heck are you talking about. It's the greedy conservatives that use laws to collect dollars to pay for God knows what? and put the poor, that are more likely to break laws, in jail... #justsayin' Anywho, that statement, as well as this one is irrelevant. This situation is sad. Period.

Well, given that the guy could only have spent possibly a week or so in prison - if that - so far, you're sort of assuming a lot there. He could be released any day. Cop a plea and do a year. Whatever. Who's to say he'll spend the rest of his life in prison for taking out a criminally insane nut case?

Just because someone writes an article about ONE incident, suddenly that confirms your world view.

Look at historical statistics. We live in perhaps the most peaceful time in the history of mankind with respect to violence.

Google: "World becoming less violent" and read the Huffington Post article (I can't post links STILL).

Only problem is...I've had to choose my appointments wisely. Have learned not to schedule if I pissed her off for some reason. A ticked-off wife with shears can be disastrous. And I'm not talking Bobbitt scenerios....just hair styling.

The police were preparing for the town festival! LMAO! This fool hacked a man to death over a haircut! Well - I guess he did not take his medication that day - well we will have no more of that! That really is true isn't it - he is dead!

Ok time for a serious question! How do you make a homemade gun? "The Sheriff said it was a homemade shotgun". I have heard of someone adapting or modifying firearms to take on different abilities - but homemade? Maybe it was just a bad choice of wording for the Sheriff. When I think of home made - I think of something from scratch with raw ingredients or supplies. Did he really put the gun together from scratch? You can't buy some sugar cookies in the store and put sprinkles on them and call them homemade - the same goes for like muffins - you can't buy muffins and put your own icing on them and call them homemade. So I think the same would go for guns or firearms.

You've never visited a prison or crime museum, have you? A "gun" - if you define one as nothing more than a tube from which you can launch a bullet - is very simple to make. Piece of pipe. Nail. Simple mechanism to drive nail into back end of shell. . . Plus, Filipinos are nothing if not amazing imitators. I've seen them rebuild entire car body panels using nothing more than sheet metal, a hammer and a block of wood.

I caught a kid in Watts with a home-made pistol. It was loaded. This happened in the 60s.

Home-made as in completely fabricated from items not normally associated with a firearm....

Like you take a piece of galvanized plumbing pipe with an inside diameter to hold a shotgun shell,

insert the shell with the rim of the cartridge catching on the edge of the pipe.

Place a piece of similiar pipe with an inside diameter large enough to tightly fit over the outside diameter of the first pipe.

Have a cap on the second pipe with a nail or pin welded inside of it so when you slide the two against each other the pin strikes the primer of the shotgun shell igniting the powder creating a rapid expansion of gas forcing the buckshot or projectile out the path of least resistence or the open end of the pipe which at that time should be facing your target.....

Pipe gun, zip gun, bang stick etc etc etc.........

Your mind is your primary weapons system, everything else is just tools and equipment.

On the upside, he's already more than qualified to write for MSNBC. In another year, he will probably be overqualified, but perhaps they'll decide to hire some actual editors by then.
